Rebuilding Day 2024: Over 250 Volunteers to Transform Homes and Lives Across Kansas City

Rebuilding Together Kansas City is thrilled to announce Rebuilding Day 2024, set for Saturday, September 21. This annual event is a cornerstone of Rebuilding Together. On Rebuilding Day 2024, over 250 volunteers will come together to work on more than 20 homes throughout the Kansas City metro area. Volunteers will provide essential repairs and safety modifications, including roof repairs, plumbing fixes, accessibility improvements, and safety upgrades.

“I love Rebuilding Day because it is a picture of the community coming together,” said Executive Director Scott Hickox. “It’s a picture of people who care for their community, who care for their neighbors, and want to make a tangible difference.”

This effort will be impactful, enhancing the quality of life for many low-income neighbors in need. Rebuilding Day is made possible through the support of site sponsors, donors, crew leaders, and organized groups of volunteers.

Rebuilding Together Kansas City, an affiliate of the national nonprofit Rebuilding Together, Inc., is one of the largest volunteer organizations in the United States dedicated to improving the homes and lives of low-income families, seniors, people living with disabilities, and veterans. Each year, Rebuilding Together Kansas City provides critical repairs and safety modifications for over 150 low-income families in the Kansas City community, at no cost to them.

In addition to Rebuilding Day, Rebuilding Together Kansas City is proud to highlight its recent partnership with Kansas City Chief’s Travis Kelce and his foundation, Eighty-Seven & Running. Together, they made transformative repairs to the home of a former decorated athlete, including a new roof, gutters, safety latches, handrails, and updates to the bathroom and kitchen.

“At its core, a home should be a place of connection, a place of safety and security, a place of refuge,” said Hickox. “When a person’s house begins to lose some of those things because they can’t keep up, it’s not safe, or they can’t afford repairs, we help. We do more than repair homes, we rebuild lives.”
